Merlin Lindow, age 83, of Neillsville, WI was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on November 14, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.Merlin Charles Lindow was born on October 21, 1932 in Chili, WI the son of Raymond and Rose (Seehafer) Lindow. He loved competing in sports. He was a Golden Glove boxing champion. He was a 1950 graduate of Marshfield Senior High and lettered in football, baseball and basketball.Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Chad Anderson officiating and Mary Ruegseggar, soloist. Dinner will follow at the church. He will be cremated and laid to rest at the Neillsville City Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gesche Funeral Home, Thursday, November 19th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and two hours before services at the church.On March 1, 1952, he married Florence Scheuer. They began their married life on his father's farm for eight years, and then purchased the Penguin Drive Inn which they owned for two years before entering the bar and supper club business. Together they operated the Pink Pony Bar, Wildcat and Riveria Supper Clubs and the Blue Mule Bar, formerly the Silver Dome in Neillsville. He had a great sense of humor; everyone enjoyed him when he was tending the bar.Hunting was a big part of his life. He loved to hunt raccoon, fox, coyote and bear with family and friends. He was also an avid deer hunter never missing one day of hunting season from the age of 16 to 80 years of age. He served 20 years as a delegate for the Wisconsin Conservation Congress, on the bear and big game committee. His presence in the community will be greatly missed. Merlie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florence, three daughters and their families, Marilyn (Dick) Olson, Bonnie (Steve) Lipscy and Brenda Schnabel (friend Scott), six grandchildren, Jake (Tonya) and Becky, Dawn (Aaron) and Ryan (Melinda), Cole and Dana (Scott), and great grandchildren, Nolan, Gunner, Brynn, Kade, Ervin and Hazel Rose to be born in January 2016, four step great grandchildren, Michael, Brett, Andrew and Kaylee. He is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Virginia Lindow and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rose Lindow, two sisters, Gloria Lindow and June Gault, one brother-in-law, Frank Gault, a son-in-law, Rick Hoffman and nephew, Ricky Lindow.Online Condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.
