William "Bill" Leonard Schultz

Bill Schultz, age 83, of Neillsville, WI died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his home.William Leonard Schultz Sr. was born on September 18, 1930 at home on the family farm in the Town of Weston, Clark County, Wisconsin the second youngest of ten children to Leonard and Anna (Flaig) Schultz. He attended the Globe School to the 8th grade and then worked on the family farm. On July 7, 1953 he entered into the United States Army in Minneapolis, MN. Bill served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged from Fort Leonard Wood, MO on June 1, 1955. On October 16, 1954, while in the military, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Jean Foss in Chicago, IL. They lived in Chicago for a few years and Bill worked at his brother-in-law's service station. In 1958, they bought Louie Hagedorn's milk route and moved to Neillsville. A year later, they purchased a farm in the Town of Weston and Bill hauled milk and farmed. Eventually, they sold the milk route and he went to work for Boon Construction. For many years, Bill, worked at Boon's and farmed. He held numerous other jobs too, including nine years at Nelson Filter from which he retired.Bill was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe, WI. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, tending to his flowers, fishing and hunting, reading, cooking and playing cards. Most of all, though, he enjoyed being with his family at the family get-togethers.He is survived by his wife, Betty, four children, Donna (Karl) Stieglitz of Dubuque, IA, William (Susan) Schultz Jr. of Greenwood, WI, Robert (Lori) Schultz of Neillsville, WI and Jeffery (Michelle) Schultz of Neillsville, WI, six grandchildren, Laura Stieglitz, Amy (Caleb) Eby, Melissa (Josh) Hemp, Nicholas (Jamey Van Epps) Schultz, Mason Schultz and Kamerynn Schultz, four great grandchildren, Enoch and Micah Eby, Jackson and Jett Hemp. Bill is also survived by two sisters, Donna (Ken) Holtz of Gainesville, GA and Janette Formaggio of Harwood Heights, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter, Haddie Hemp and seven siblings, Margaret Clawson, Myrtle Pocrnich, Lilly Massie, Leona Fabry, Alfred Schultz, Bernard Schultz and Mabel Bertrang.Funeral Services for Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe, WI. Pastor John Warmuth will officiate. Music will be provided by Karen Warmuth, organist and Karl Stieglitz, soloist. Interment will be in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the Neillsville Veteran's Council.
