Marcia N Crothers

Marcia N. Crothers, age 94, of Granton, WI, died on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville, WI.Marcia Nelson was born on May 14, 1919 in the township of River Falls, WI, the daughter of Laurtz and Effie (Rudesill) Nelson. She graduated from River Falls High School and attended the River Falls Teachers College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1944. She taught at various grade schools and then Maiden Rock High School until 1946. In 1947 she moved to Granton where she met Jack Crothers. They were united in marriage in July of 1947. Marcia taught in Granton and other High Schools in the area. In early 1950 she took a job as Clark County Supervisor and held that position until 1960 when she returned to her teaching career. After Marcia retired from teaching she started Crothers Greenhouse and ran that until the early 1990's. Marcia was a member of the Clark County Choraliers, York Center Methodist Church and the Clark County Historical Society. She is survived by 2 sons, Bruce and Mark Crothers both of Granton, WI and 1 sister, Naoma Falde of Spring Valley, WI.Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack in 1967, 3 brothers, Elton, Lambert and Velmo and 1 sister, Emogene.A funeral service will be held for Marcia at 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at the York Center Methodist Church. Pastor Patsy Roe will officiate. Providing music will be Lori Rowe, pianist. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Friday morning at the church. Interment will be in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton.
