Floyd E. Short, age 85, of Neillsville, WI died on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.Floyd Eugene Short was born on May 17, 1927 in Neillsville, WI the son of Eugene and Leah (Cook) Short. After his education Floyd went to work on the family fur farm. He decided to join the United States Army and served in Korea as a truck driver. After his service he came back to work on Short's Fur Farm with his brothers. Floyd was united in marriage to Joan Amo on September 3, 1949 in Black River Falls, WI. When he sold his share of the fur farm he opened a car dealership and auto garage in Granton, WI. Eventually he started the Neillsville Painting Service and painted for 20+ years. Floyd enjoyed motorcycle riding, trap shooting, hunting and hiking. He was a member of the Neillsville Gun Club and the United Church of Christ. He also enjoyed the daily morning coffee clutch with the guys at the Cozy Kitchen.Floyd is survived by a son, Bill (Becky) Short of Granton, WI, 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter; Mary Jo Riebe, a grandson, Christopher Wesenberg, brothers; Glenn and Dale and a sister, Jeanette Gaier.Funeral Services for Floyd will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor Bill Brown will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Gesche Funeral Home and again from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the church.Serving as casket bearers will be Wayne Short, Steve Short, Tom Short and Bill John.Funeral Home:Gesche Funeral Home4 South Grand AvenueNeillsville, WIUS 54456
