Norbert J Sowinski

Norbert Sowinski, age 83, of Neillsville, WI died Sunday, February 13, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Josephs Hospital in Marshfield, WI.Norbert John Sowinski was born on October 8, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI the son of John and Stella (Swieciak) Sowinski. He enlisted into the United States Navy on September 13, 1945 and proudly served aboard the USS Prairie, mainly around China and the Indonesian islands. Upon his honorable discharge on October 1, 1948 Norb returned to Milwaukee and spent most of his working life at American Motors and the Chrysler Corporation. On August 2, 1952 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Kaminski in Milwaukee. They moved to Neillsville, WI in 1997 to be closer to family and to see their only grandchild grow up.Norbert was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Neillsville. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, two daughters, Karen (Bob) Venne and Debbie (Tony) Hansen both of Neillsville, a granddaughter, Julie Venne of Neillsville and nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.The Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Neillsville. The celebrant will be Fr. Varkey Velickakathu. Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
