Lydia A. Montgomery, age 91, of Granton, WI went home to the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Abbotsford, WI surrounded by her family.Lydia was born in Granton, WI on May 11, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Martha (Schaller) Schlinsog.Lydias family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to The Angelus and Golden Living Center in Marshfield for their tender and loving care and especially, Gods blessings, to Dr. Paul Writz and the entire staff at Golden Living Center in Abbotsford, for their precious, unending love for Lydia in the final months and these last days of her life.Lydia was baptized, confirmed, married and a member of Zion Lutheran Church MO Synod of Granton, WI all of her life. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Allen D. Montgomery on June 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1994.Lydia graduated from Granton H.S. in 1938 and then worked at the drug store in Neillsville, until she married her husband of 53 years. She was a pioneer woman throughout her life as she endured the absence of her husband, Allen during his 3 year service in WWII, using her hands to sew, crochet, cook and love, her most precious priority, her family.Lydia is survived by her children, Reverend Allen (Bea) Montgomery Jr. of Rhinelander, WI, Colleen (Jerry) Michaelis of Escondido, CA, Connie (Ray) Mullins of Marshfield, WI, Gayle (T.J.) Urban of Neillsville, WI and Brett (Kerri) Montgomery of Greenfield, WI. Twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive her.Her husband, parents and a brother, Paul Schlinsog, preceded her in death.A time of sharing and gathering will be held at a Memorial Service for Lydia on July 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church MO Synod in Granton, WI with the Reverend Stewart Marshall officiating. Lydia donated her body to science so the interment will be at a later date at the Zion Cemetery in Granton.
