Carol Mitte, age 74, of Neillsville, WI passed away after a brief battle with illness on April 22, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Carol Ann Purkis was born on April 21, 1950, in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Clyde and Eleanor (Hainzlsperger) Purkis.
Carol was well known for her love of plants and flowers and her home was always surrounded in beautiful blooms that she spent much of her time caring for. During the winter months those plants would be moved inside and cared for creating what her grandchildren referred to as her rainforest. She had a passion for genealogy and had been able to create binders and binders full of family history. Carol also enjoyed spending time thrifting for unknown treasures and spending time with her family; especially at the woods sitting around a campfire.
She is survived by her husband Michael Mitte, children Scott Bryant, Jerry (Heidi) Bryant, Jake (Erin) Mitte and Michelle (Kyle)Friemoth. Her mother Eleanor Moeller. Her siblings Sharon (Roger) Erickson, Edward (Joan) Purkis, Jerry (Cheryl) Purkis, Rose (Dale) Zawislan, Tina (Daryl) Metcalfe, Mike (Cheri) Purkis and Bonnie Purkis. Carol is further survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who she all cherished and loved so much.
She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Purkis and a daughter, Lorie Bryant.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 29, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe, WI. Pastor Nathan Wilke will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, April 28, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gesche Funeral Home and also Monday morning from 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the West Weston Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be DuWayne O'Connell, Jesse Metcalf, Travis Zvolena, Ben Zawislan, Troy Purkis, Billy Mitte and Caleb Bryant.
