Cheryl M. Steinbach, age 60, of Granton, WI, passed away at her home with her beloved husband Timothy (Tim) by her side on Monday, January 27, 2025.

Cheryl was born on September 5, 1964, in Neillsville, WI, to Wallace (Wally) and Patricia (Pat) Garbisch.

Cheryl was raised on the family farm in Granton and graduated from Granton High School in 1982. Her passion for agriculture and teaching led her to pursue a degree in agricultural education from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. She was united in marriage to Tim on June 8, 1985, at United Church of Christ (UCC) in Neillsville. Cheryl began her teaching career in Gilman in 1986 before returning home to teach agriculture and lead the local FFA chapter in Granton in 1988. She held this position for 28 years before some health concerns forced her to step away from teaching in 2016. As a teacher and FFA advisor, Cheryl was instrumental in the lives of many of her students. Cheryl earned many individual honors for her educational contributions and accomplishments. The FFA Chapter was recognized many times at the State and National levels under her leadership. 162 students earned State FFA degrees, 72 earned American FFA degrees, and 2 were elected to be State FFA Officers.

After stepping away from teaching, Cheryl remained employed by Granton Schools as a School-to-Work Coordinator. She later became the Executive Director of the Wisconsin FFA Alumni Association in 2017, which was a unique opportunity to continue her passion for the FFA organization with a less strenuous schedule. Cheryl held this position until 2024 when other health issues led her to retirement.

Cheryl was very active in the community. She remained involved with the FFA Alumni after teaching and helped establish the Granton School Foundation, of which she also served as Treasurer. For many years, Cheryl was a First Responder and a member of the Park Committee, Rotary Club, and School Board in Granton. In 2005, Cheryl and Tim were named Honored Citizens for their community service. Cheryl was also a very involved member of the United Church of Christ (UCC) in Neillsville.

While Cheryl took great pride in her career, the success of her students, and the many contributions she made to the community, her family was always her top priority. She showed enduring love and care for her parents, siblings, husband, children, grandchildren, niece, nephews, in-laws, and other extended family members. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her beloved family. In 2024, Tim & Cheryl were named Honored Grandparents for the Granton Fall Festival.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Tim of 39 years, parents Wally & Pat Garbisch of Marshfield, sons Matthew (Tera) Steinbach of Stanley and David (Emily) Steinbach of Granton, grandsons Kaynen and Kroix (Matthew & Tera), granddaughters Kate & Lexi (David & Emily), brother Mark (Ruth) Garbisch of Granton, sisters Lori Gallagher of Marshfield and Cynthia King of La Crosse, niece Amanda (Jeremy) Tabin of Wausau, nephews Nick Sachs of Wisconsin Rapids, Jamie (Dawn) Gallagher of Granton, and Russell (Tina) Steinbach of Marshfield, mother-in-law Joyce Steinbach of Neillsville, brother-in-law Ed (Tammy) Steinbach of Granton, and many other beloved family members

Cheryl was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Gerald "Jerry" Steinbach and Phillip "Chuckie" Steinbach, father-in-law Vernon Steinbach, and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents.

The Funeral Service will be held at the United Church of Christ (UCC) in Neillsville at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 3, with a burial and reception to follow. The funeral service will also be available through live streaming. Visitation opportunities include 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 2, at Gesche Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Monday February 3, at the United Church of Christ, both in Neillsville. A Celebration of Life is also being planned for later this winter, which will be held at Granton High School.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the Granton FFA Alumni at 217 N Main St. Granton, WI 54436. These donations will be used to establish an educational scholarship fund in Cheryl's honor.
