Cyrus Philip Gloff

Cyrus Gloff, age 83, of Tomah, WI formerly of Neillsville, WI died Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Tomah VA Medical Center.

Cyrus Philip Gloff was born on March 7, 1937 in Albion, MI the youngest of six children to Karl and Clara (Rumm) Gloff. The family moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1943. He attended schools there and in Wauwatosa, WI, when he entered the United States Army in his senior year at the age of 17. He finished his high school education by graduating from the U.S. Armed Forces Institute. During his 4 ½ years of service, he served in Guam and Korea before being medically retired with a disabled honorable discharge on September 30, 1958. Cyrus then moved to a farm, where he did chores and assisted his neighbors, driving tractor, lifting hay, feeding cows and doing field work. He then moved to Neillsville with his parents and one brother. He moved to the Tomah VA in 2003.

He liked doing crossword puzzles and play bingo. He was an avid bowler, even scoring a 300 game in a wheelchair. Cyrus was also a member of the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post #73 in Neillsville.

He is survived by Nieces and nephews, Kathleen, Frances, Mark and Michael.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Mark, three sisters, Agnes, Vivian and Rachel and an infant brother.

Cyrus was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

A Graveside Service at the Neillsville City Cemetery will be held at a later date with military honors performed by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council.
