Payleitner, Edith “Edie” M. (nee Fohey) Edith “Edie” Payleitner peacefully entered eternal life on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the age of 93. Edie was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 16, 1924 to George and Marie (Quigley) Fohey. She lived in Milwaukee until 1970, when the family moved to Neillsville, WI. She was the loving mother of Greg (Cecilia Devine) Payleitner, Marcia Payleitner, Margaret Smith, Claudia Whitefield, and Chuck Payleitner. Proud grandmother of Adam and Michelle Payleitner, Andrew (Becky) Manz, Nicole and Claire Smith; great grandmother of Aaren, Amelia, and Simon Manz. Edie lived a full life. She greeted everyone she met with her witty Irish wisdom. Her outstanding cooking and baking skills have been passed on to her family along with her cherished recipes. Edie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, WI. Edie is survived by her sister-in-law Judy Fohey, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters Bernadine (Herbert) Zellmer, Rosale (Harvey) Hruska, Jane (Earl) Zajac, Brideen Fohey O.P and brothers Gervase (Margie) Fohey and George Fohey. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Val Payleitner (2003) and son Doug (1968). Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 followed by a Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, WI. Entombment will follow the next day at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI at 1:00 p.m. . A special thanks to the compassionate staff at Neillsville Retirement Home and Ministry Home Care Hospice.
