Esther Swenson

Esther Swenson, age 94, of Chili, WI, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Stoney River Assisted Living Center in Marshfield, WI.

Esther Elaine Keuer was born on July 3, 1929, the daughter of Leslie and Adeline (Krause) Keuer. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Neillsville, WI in 1929, and confirmed there on April 18, 1943. She graduated from Granton High School in 1947, and later that year on August 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Swenson. They moved to Illinois in 1948, where Esther raised their family. After Lloyd retired in 1984, they moved back to the home farm in Chili, and built the home. Lloyd died in 2018. Esther moved to Marshfield in 2019, and their home was sold to their daughter, Cynthia in 2020.

Esther loved her cats and reading. She often said her favorite pastime was "burning gas" as she also loved to shop.

She is survived by four children, Sharon (John) Wallheimer of Collinsville, IL, Richard (Rose) Swenson of Caledonia, IL, Susan (Craig) Wilt of Chili, WI and Cynthia (Paul) Schilf of Brandon, S.D. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, Christine (David) Korte, Heather (Joe) Hasenyager, Tayler (Becky) Swenson, Melissa (Josh) Newberry, Jennifer Wilt, Laura (Mike) Lind and Leah (Zachary) Hallstrom, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, a grandson, Peter Schilf, her parents, and a sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Erlin Dahl.

Funeral services for Esther will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, WI. Pastor Daniel Schoessow will officiate. Interment will be in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

Casket bearers will be: family and friends.
