Gerald Grueneberg, age 74, of Humbird, WI died, suddenly, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his residence. Gerald Richard Grueneberg was born on October 26, 1943 in Dodge County, WI the son of Herbert and Beulah (Schoenwetter) Grueneberg. He graduated from Reeseville High School in 1961 and on June 24 of that year was united in marriage to Sandy Hyne. Gerry worked at the feed mill and farmed in Reeseville and he and Sandy took over Grueneberg Hall, the bar Jerry’s parents owned in Reeseville. After selling the bar, Gerry went to work in construction in the Milwaukee area until his retirement. Gerry and Sandy had a vacation home in Humbird that they would visit frequently over the years, and in 2004 they moved to Humbird and made it their permanent residence. Gerry loved the outdoors. He loved being in the woods and snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and taking rides on the side-by-side with his faithful companion, Slash. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, a son, Rick Grueneberg of Reeseville, WI, a daughter, Tammy (James) Rhode of Beaver Dam, WI, three grandchildren, Jennifer Grueneberg, Brandi Nelson and Jimmy (Karisa) Rhode, six great grandchildren, Deshawn, Demetrius, Ethan, Savannah, Kirra and Britta. Gerry is further survived by a brother, Dale (Terry) Grueneberg of Park Falls, WI, two sisters-in-law, Sandy Grueneberg of Lowell, WI and Cheryl Kaus of Bloomington, MN, a brother-in-law, Michael (Barb) Hyne of Beaver Dam, WI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian, his parents, two brothers, David and Virgil and a nephew, Robbie Grueneberg. As per Gerald’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
