James Roger Kuehl

James Kuehl, age 74, of Neillsville, WI passed away peacefully Monday, January 8, 2018 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI, surrounded by his loving family.   James Roger Kuehl was born on February 11, 1943 in West Bend, WI the son of Wesley and Adeline (Fellenz) Kuehl. He attended school in West Bend and entered the United States Air Force on August 11, 1960, stationed in Minot, N.D. While in service he earned his GED and was united in marriage to Lois Joiner on May 12, 1962. After his honorable discharge in August of 1964, they moved back to West Bend, where he went to work for Serigraph Sales as a Lithographer. During this time they also owned a charter fishing business, “JaLo” on Lake Michigan. In 1979, they moved to Neillsville and purchased the old Bill Opelt bar at the time called “Turvy’s Inn”. They operated the bar off and on from 1979 to 1994 as Jim and Lois’s Hideaway. After selling the bar, Jim went into business with Gary Crawley, forming J&G Graphics in downtown Neillsville. In 1990, Jim went to work for the printing department at the Marshfield Clinic, retiring in 2007.   Jim was a member of the Moose Lodge in West Bend, a member of numerous gun clubs, where he held board positions. He was a member of the Wayne Wranglers Saddle Club and ran the rodeo circuit, busted broncos, and raised and showed beagles in West Bend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap-shooting, making home-made wine and making maple syrup in the “Sugar Shack”. He was a Town of Levis Supervisor, a member of the Happy Times Snowmobile Club, a Corner Club – ATV trail advisor and a member of the American Legion Post #73 in Neillsville.   He is survived by his wife, Lois, two children, James (Anne) Kuehl of Neillsville, WI, Cynthia (Troy) Anderson of Galesville, WI, six grandchildren, Christine (Joseph) Bartel, Doug Kuehl, Samantha (Bryan) Larson, Cody Kuehl, Cole Sorenson, Cade Sorenson, Kaitlyn and Kasey Anderson, four great grandchildren, Aaron, Barrett, Michaela and Adeline Bartel, three sisters, Jerilynn (James) Hutchison, Nancy (Henry) Delcore and Marilee (Dan) Kempf and numerous nieces and nephews and several step-brothers and step-sisters.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Adeline and niece/goddaughter, Kristie Schommer and his step-mother.   A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Strike Time Lanes in Neillsville, starting at 1:00 p.m.   Jim’s family greatly appreciates the great care he received from the House of the Dove and Ascension Hospice Team.   Online Condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.   The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Jim’s family with arrangements.
