John Oscar Walk

John Walk, age 74, of Neillsville, WI passed away peacefully at the House of the Dove Hospice Home in Marshfield, WI on May 19, 2021.

John Oscar Walk was born on August 5, 1946 the son of Oscar and Evelyn (Wetzel) Walk. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1964. Following graduation, he entered the United States Army serving in Alaska, which he loved, from July 29, 1966 until his honorable discharge on July 28, 1969. When he returned home, John began a career at Gaier Construction that lasted for 45 years.

John loved hunting and fishing and did both whenever he could. He also loved putting together jigsaw puzzles and had finished hundreds over the years.

John lived his entire life in Neillsville and knew pretty much everyone. He had many friends and was a friend to everyone.

He is survived by his companion, Pat, who gave him absolutely the most wonderful care possible during his recent illness, his sons, Brian (Laura) Walk of Neillsville, WI and Greg (Sara) Adams of Chippewa Falls, WI and his sister, Kay (Bernard) Poeschel of Murrysville, PA. John is further survived by six grandchildren, Chloe and Madeline Adams, Shylah, Laylah, Kylah and Aston Walk.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Evelyn Walk.

Visitation for John will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, WI, with Military Honors performed by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council at 4:00 p.m. A reception, celebrating John’s life, will follow at The Brickyard in Neillsville.
