Larry grew up on the family farm in Chili, WI where he spent his childhood with his siblings. It’s the place where at 5 years old he learned to make his famous pickles. He was a busy boy who shared many mischievous adventures with his siblings. He graduated Granton High School in 1977.
Larry started as a Laborer in Masonry for 9 years, and then followed his father’s footsteps as a Mason until retirement. Larry loved what he did and was very proud of his work.
Larry had many joys in life, among them cooking (including making those famous pickles), fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, riding his Harley, watching NASCAR, and cheering for the Packers, working, tinkering on anything, feeding and watching his Orioles and Hummingbirds, family (feeling young with his grandchildren), known and unknown friends, harassing people (only in good fun, if he teased you that meant he liked you!). Larry met the love of his life, Lisa, in 2002. They shared 16 wonderful years together; 2 as husband and wife.
He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Nickel, son Joshua Nickel (Brooke), grandchildren Zayden Nickel and Izabella Nickel, daughter Christina Streeter (Don) grandchildren Bree Streeter and Beau Streeter, stepson Adam Tilson, stepson Zachery Tilson (Fabi), stepdaughter Chelsea Tilson, sister Debbie Moeller (John), sister Susan Moede (Gale), brother Mark Nickel (Sara), brother Dale Nickel (LaDonna), brother Dean Nickel (Susan), foster brother Donald Hafner (Debbie), brother-in-law Dean Bryan (Stephanie), sister-in-law Lori Bixby (Chris), sister-in-law Sara Errthum (Jason), sister-in-law Beth Bryan (Phil), and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
