Lillian Laverne Foemmel returned to her heavenly home on November 19, 2023.

She was born to August and Albertena (Schendel) Kindt in Wilton, WI, on March 22, 1921. When she was young the family moved to the Globe area as her father decided that Wilton had too many hills to farm easily. She attended grade school in Globe and then lived with various families in Greenwood doing housework and childcare during the school years so that she could graduate from Greenwood High School.

She met the love of her life Ervin at a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom, their marriage making the Milwaukee Journal as the minister's buggy got stuck in the mud and he had to walk through the mud to perform the ceremony.

They lived in Milwaukee until she returned to Neillsville while Ervin served in the navy during the war. They then returned to Milwaukee where after various jobs they owned a grocery store. A few years later they again returned to Neillsville to farm. While raising 4 children they purchased the A&W Root Beer Stand, the liquor store, built the trailer court, along with building 3 new homes. She always worked alongside Ervin in every new venture.

Lillian and Ervin together really enjoyed their time on the lake fishing and playing cards with so many of their friends. People always knew that when they stopped by their house they were always welcomed. In the later years Lillian was so thankful for the friends she had, especially the Monday afternoon card playing girls.

She leaves behind her children Sandra (Dennis) Larsen-Neillsville, Bonnie (Wayne) Short- Granton, Cheryl Ray-Marshfield, and Douglas (Carol) Foemmel-Stevens Point, along with 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin Foemmel, her son-in-law Jefferson Ray III, her grandson Ryan Foemmel, her parents and parents-in-law, and sisters Wanda, Melta, Hulda, Olga, Hertha, and brothers Albert, Allen, Walter, and Edwin.

Visitation will be at St Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 10am to 11 with the funeral to follow at 11, with internment at the Neillsville Cemetery.
