Lorena Mae Weber, age 95, of Neillsville, WI, died Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Neillsville Retirement Community in Neillsville, WI.
Lorena Mae Griffin was born on December 9, 1928, in Flint, MI, the daughter of William and Leah (Ogden) Griffin. She graduated from Dye High School in Flint in 1946, and then was united in marriage to Alexander Weber on May 23, 1947 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Flint, MI. After they were married, Mae stayed home and raised their family. When the children were older, she went to work, for many years, as a sales clerk in the fabric department of Hudson's Department Store. Her husband, Alexander, died in 2005, and Mae moved to Neillsville in 2018 after the death of her son, Mark.
Mae was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Durand, MI, until moving to Neillsville. She then became of member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mae loved her Savior, and she showed that to her children and grandchildren.
She loved to travel and had visited 49 of the 50 states. The only state she didn't get to visit was little New Jersey. She loved chocolate and sewing. She was a great seamstress, making many of her and her family's clothes. She was a terrific baker and she loved cooking. In her younger years, dinner with her family was always at her house every Sunday.
She is survived by six children, Marlene Brown of Swartz Creek, MI, Sharon (Melvin) Nemitz of Neillsville, WI, Leah Vankeuern of Grand Blanc, Teresa (Myron) Muter of Port Hope, MI. Bill (Jenny) Weber of Durand, MI, John (Michelle) Weber of Swartz Creek, MI, and Mae is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alexander, her son, Mark, and infant grandson, a great grandson, and a son-in-law, Dave Brown.
Mae's family would like to thank Pastor Biebert for his devotions with her. Betty Nemitz for visiting Mae and decorating her room. Effie Sytsma for the friendship she showed Mae. Tammy and her staff at the Neillsville Retirement Community and Compassus Hospice Care for the wonderful care they provided.
Funeral Services for Mae will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Biebert will officiate. Music will be provided by Judy Trunkel, organist. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the church.
