Melissa Lynn Wright passed away on November 15, 2022, at the age of 41. While we would love to report she passed peacefully on a beach in Bali with a French 76 in her hand and a smile on her beautiful face, she sadly left this world against the will of everyone who loved her at the hands of domestic violence.
Born the daughter of Donald and Linda Wright, Melissa entered this mortal realm on February 19, 1981 with the fuzziest head of hair and the kindest of hearts. As the youngest of three siblings, she would certainly be happy to tell you she was not only the best looking, but the nicest of them all. The brightest star if you will. She would tell you the story of how her meaner and older sister pulled her hair relentlessly while braiding it or about the time her brother convinced her that if she used trash bags as a raincoat, no one would notice when they came in from outside soaked and muddy.
Melissa became a mother to two smart and sassy children (the apples didn't fall far from the tree). Her son, Maximos, frequently delighted her with his amazing musical talent. She beamed with pride when sharing the adventures, he had with his Scout troop. Her daughter, Brynn, a gifted artist and animal lover. As the most talented and creative hostess, Melissa loved putting together a slumber party for Brynn and her friends.
She worked hard professionally, obtaining her degree and being promoted in her job to become a leader in her field. She cared deeply about the people she worked with and spoke fondly of them. Always striving to be the best she could be and supporting everyone around her in doing the same.
Melissa was world-renowned for her sweet and bubbly personality, her impeccable style, and the ability to make everyone around her feel loved. Her joy was contagious. You could always find her listening to some mellow music and sipping coffee from a slightly sarcastic mug (likely with a box of Hostess Ding Dongs sitting next to her). Her passion for Christmas decorating emerged immediately upon the conclusion of Halloween. She would thoughtfully plan the most elaborate and welcoming holiday displays, and everyone delighted in them.
She was preceded in death by her dad Don, her nephew Gage, and paternal and maternal grandparents. She is survived by her children Max and Brynn, Mother Linda, sister Stephanie, brother Alan, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her special boyfriend, Jason Kolano of Eau Claire, WI.
Her life will be celebrated on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am with a service immediately following. Private interment will be in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Please don't be late and arrive brightly dressed and in style (in true Melissa fashion). We will share stories and celebrate a life gone too soon.
"I hope you will walk on this journey knowing that you belong. I hope even if things sometimes do not go your way you will not stop trying, you will not give up on yourself, and on your toughest days I hope you will keep reminding yourself of this: You are loved and you are worthy even when it doesn't feel that way." - Dhiman
